Town
$8,000.00
Town is an energetic, high-relief panorama of commercial hustle in a historic Southwestern Nigerian market town. From an elevated perspective, a sunlit thoroughfare leads through clusters of traditional rusted-corrugated iron roofs, colorful merchant stalls, and colonial-era timber-and-brick architecture. Commuters, market women with head pans, blue Bedford transit trucks, and pedestrians crowd the dusty road amidst commercial billboards and tangled overhead power lines. Rendered with thick, crystalline palette knife strokes in saturated ochres, terracottas, turquoise, and sky blues, the artwork captures the sights, sounds, and entrepreneurial vitality of everyday Nigerian commerce.
