Bariga
$4,000.00
Bathed under a brilliant, crystalline cerulean sky, Bariga documents the rustic architectural landscape of Lagos's iconic coastal settlement. The composition leads the viewer through a quiet lagoon canal flanked by stilt-supported wooden dwellings thatched with weathered timber and raffia. Resting in the reflective foreground water is a solitary canoe bearing a colorful, segmented umbrella—a bright beacon of yellow, red, and blue that punctuates the earthy umbers, sienna browns, and deep greys of the shoreline architecture. The heavily sculpted impasto gives the water and structures a rich tactile quality, capturing the humid atmosphere, stillness, and enduring poise of riverine community life.
