The Eyo festival is a traditional Yoruba masquerade in Lagos, Nigeria, that celebrates ancestors and honors special occasions, such as the death of a prominent chief or the installation of a new Oba. Participants, known as Eyos, wear white robes, veils, and colorful hats (Aga) while carrying a staff (Opambata). The festival, also known as the Adamu Orisha Play, is held on Lagos Island and includes processions, drumming, and dancing, transforming the city for the celebration.
